10 Things to do for your own happiness and peace of mind
Research shows on average, it takes us about nine weeks (about two months) to learn and adapt to new habits. You can gradually rewrite your brain with these simple techniques, which you can practice daily because of our brain's neuroplasticity.
1. Start steadying yourself with simple rituals.
When life feels like an emotional roller coaster, make daily consistent habits, such as physical exercise, watering the plants, or going for a walk. These simple habits will bring calmness to your life.
2. Start dedicating time every day for meaningful progress
If you only have 15 minutes to spare, make those 15 minutes meaningful. Focus on small steps to remind yourself that it always feels better to be exhausted from taking small steps forward for your goals than being tired from doing something else.
3. Start choosing differently
A big part of your life is the little choices you make every day. If you don't like certain parts of your life, change them little by little. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. What can you take as a small step toward the change you desire?
4. Start comparing yourself to yourself (and to no one else)
Forget about what others have and where they are in life. You're not walking in their shoes. They are walking in your shoes, and everyone is different. It's what makes you who you are. You create your story and celebrate your progress.
5. Start opening to new experiences.
Uncertainty often takes us to where life's true magic happens if we allow it to. Do not let knowing how something will end up keep you from beginning something challenging and new. Life itself is an opportunity to explore, learn, and grow from it.
6. Start letting life's frustrations go.
Do not let the drama of the day get you down. Joy starts on the inside. Practice focusing on what matters. You control your thoughts and what to do with emotions. Thoughts and feelings create energy. You choose how to use this energy for positive change.
7. Start focusing on only what you can control.
Do not force outcomes. Do your best and let things unfold naturally. If it is meant to be, it will. Do not hold yourself down with things that are not in your control. Mistakes do not define who we are. Do not ruin a new day by thinking about yesterday – Let it go!
8. Take self-care priority
You can not give what you don't have. Put yourself on an oxygen mask first. It is also a great way to increase your productivity. Listen to yourself. You are the only one who knows everything about you in the world. Build a healing relationship with yourself, then expand it with others.
9. Start giving of yourself without expectations.
You will be extremely disappointed if you expect people to always do for you as you do for them. Not everyone has the same priorities, values, and habits. You are happy about what you did, and that is your reward.
10. Keep positivity
Life can be tough. There are too many traps that you get drawn to negativity. Resilient people will face the bright side and keep moving no matter what. Find hope and what makes you feel better every day. Life will continue, so why not face it with positivity and strength?
